On December 15th, a multi-car chain collision accident occurred on Shuanggang Bridge in Echeng District, Ezhou City, Hubei Province. A cement tanker truck fell off the bridge and caught fire, with reports circulating online that the driver died on the spot.
According to a report from the Netease account “人間驚鴻影” (Human Startling Shadows), around 2:30 pm that day, there was a sudden violent collision of vehicles on Shuanggang Bridge. The drivers behind had no time to react and one after another crashed into the vehicles ahead. Under the tremendous impact, a vehicle was knocked off the bridge and burst into flames.
Videos from the scene show billowing black smoke rising into the sky, with multiple vehicles parked on the side of the bridge, guardrails destroyed in several places, and a large number of debris scattered on the ground from the collisions. Another video shows a cement tanker truck falling off the bridge and catching fire at the bottom.
Some netizens claimed that the cement tanker truck driver died on the spot and was taken to the funeral home. Other private car drivers involved in the collision were reported to have been unharmed due to the deployment of safety airbags.

On December 16th, the Ezhou City Emergency Management Bureau reported that, “At around 2:00 pm on the 15th, a cement tanker truck fell off Shuanggang Bridge on Development Avenue in Echeng District, Ezhou City, Hubei Province, and caught fire, resulting in one fatality.” However, the report only mentioned that the cause of the accident is under investigation, without elaborating on the multi-car chain collision accident or disclosing the identity of the deceased.
