“Tobi Roppo” fell asleep right after the action due to lack of stamina compared to previous injuries.

Actor Jeremy Renner, known for his role as “Hawkeye” in the “Avengers” series, recently revealed that he suffered severe trauma to his chest after being crushed by a snowplow, almost costing him his life. Renner disclosed that he relives the accident every night and due to physical fatigue, he now falls asleep while filming movies.

On New Year’s Day 2023, Jeremy Renner sustained serious chest injuries, including a collapsed lung and 38 fractures. Following the accident, Renner underwent surgery at the hospital, which significantly changed his life. Renner shared that every night, he recalls the near-death accident and sees moments of misfortune in his hallucinations and dreams. He also mentioned that currently, he is filming movies like a child star.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times on the 17th, the 53-year-old Renner expressed, “Every night, I relive it. It shows up in my hallucinations, it shows up in my dreams, it shows up in my waking thoughts.”

Renner remembered waking up in the hospital with a tube down his throat and eyes covered with a mask. He mentioned being heavily medicated in the intensive care unit, saying, “I wasn’t myself.” Initially, his doctors had predicted it would take him years to walk again.

However, Renner stood back on his feet within three months, labeling himself as “a determined oddball.”

Hugh Dillon, the co-creator and executive producer of Paramount+ series “Mayor of Kingstown,” recalled receiving an apologetic text from Renner within a day of the accident, stating, “Honestly, when I received that text, I thought: he’ll be okay.” Dillon visited Renner in Los Angeles during the early stages of his recovery.

It took Renner about a year after the accident to return to performing, shooting the third season of “Mayor of Kingstown.” Initially, returning to the set felt strange for him as he had to face the harsh reality of physical recovery, striving to create authenticity and make the audience believe it while relearning to walk without struggling.

During the first week back on the set of “Mayor of Kingstown,” Renner occasionally fell asleep while filming. Renner jokingly said, “They say ‘Action!’, and then I fall asleep. They are working me too hard, too many hours, too many days in a row.” He expressed his willingness to give his all but also acknowledged the challenge it posed.

Despite adjustments made by the producers to accommodate Renner’s filming schedule, the time zone difference between the West Coast where the set is located and the East Coast where Renner resides still posed challenges for his body. Therefore, for most of the past four months, Renner remained in Pittsburgh on the East Coast and utilized shoot breaks for rehabilitation.

Renner humorously remarked, “They have to treat me like a child actor, Mayor of Kingstown is now like a 14-year-old kid.” Renner invested a significant amount in his recovery, saying, “But what do I care about? I’m still alive, I walk through life with a smile, nothing can change that, nothing can change me.”

Reportedly, Renner is nearing the completion of filming for the third season of “Mayor of Kingstown,” which is set to premiere on Paramount+ on June 2nd.
