The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, officially invited President Trump to deliver the State of the Union Address on February 24th. In a formal letter posted on the social media platform X on Wednesday, Johnson expressed gratitude for Trump’s leadership and decisive actions that have made America stronger, freer, and more prosperous.
As Johnson highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Trump administration and the 119th Congress in advancing one of the most impactful agendas in American history in 2025, he emphasized the tangible results of rational governance that the American people have experienced in this great nation.
Looking ahead to 2026, Johnson expressed eagerness to continue the important work of serving the American people and defending freedom. He extended a distinguished invitation for President Trump to address a joint session of Congress on February 24th in the House Chamber.
In addition to releasing the invitation letter, Johnson remarked on the President’s ongoing commitment to serving the American people and fulfilling his promises since returning to the White House. He hinted at the anticipation of positive developments on the horizon.
The State of the Union Address typically takes place at the end of January or in February, although President Biden’s inauguration also saw it held in early March.
Last March, Trump delivered his first congressional speech following his return to the White House, but it was not a State of the Union Address. Such addresses are usually given in the second, third, and fourth years of a president’s term.
