In terms of Hong Kong films, there were a total of 8 movies with box office earnings exceeding ten million HKD. The highest-grossing was the animated film “Beyond the World” at 15.36 million, followed by “What Will I Say Today” by Golden Horse Award winner Ivana Wong at 13.73 million, and the self-directed and acted film “Redemption” by Anthony Wong at 13.28 million, ranking second and third respectively. Of note is the movie “The Search for Qin,” produced by Louis Koo and featuring the original cast, which premiered simultaneously on New Year’s Eve in Hong Kong and mainland China, grossing approximately 11.29 million HKD on its opening day in Hong Kong and Macau. The film not only surpassed the record of 9.17 million set by “P-Storm” for the highest single-day box office of a Hong Kong film last year but also became the first Hong Kong film to top the opening day box office in Hong Kong film history by exceeding ten million in a single day.

As of now, “The Search for Qin” has accumulated a box office of 151 million Chinese yuan in mainland China in just 4 days, with a rating of 9.3 on Maoyan ticketing platform, while the box office in Hong Kong and Macau has surpassed 30 million HKD, showing continuous momentum. Given the film’s peak screening period, it is expected that the box office will continue to reach new heights.
