“Reunion of Three Leading Actresses from ‘Quest for Qin’ – Ann Hsu Reveals Exciting Finale of New Film”

“Epoch Times December 24, 2025” – The film adaptation of the time-travel novel “Searching for Qin” by Hong Kong writer Huang Yi, will be released on December 31 this year. On December 22, Louis Koo attended the promotional kickoff ceremony with original cast members including Raymond Lam, Michelle Yim, Joyce Koi, and Tavia Yeung, as well as new actors like Michael Miu, Jonathan Cheung, and Nancy Wu.

“Searching for Qin” is produced by Louis Koo, co-directed by Wilson Yip and Marco Law, with Louis Koo, Raymond Lam, Michelle Yim, Joyce Koi, and Tavia Yeung in lead roles. The TV series version of “Searching for Qin” debuted in 2001 and became a hit, earning the title of “the pioneer of time-travel dramas.” Its “Douban” rating still stands at a high 8.6, securing a place in the list of classic Hong Kong dramas.

The storyline of the film version of “Searching for Qin” will continue from the TV series ending, with the reunion of the original cast being the biggest highlight. Louis Koo appears as both the producer and lead actor, reprising his role as the key character, Xiang Shaolong, and reuniting with old friends Raymond Lam, Michelle Yim, Joyce Koi, and Tavia Yeung.

During the reunion on December 22, when actresses Tavia Yeung, Joyce Koi, and Tavia Yeung came together, they couldn’t help but embrace each other warmly, creating a touching moment. A visibly excited Joyce Koi exclaimed, “We can’t help but hug each other!” Tavia Yeung expressed how rare and precious this reunion was, emphasizing that it’s all about fate and cooperation.

Regarding the film’s ticket distribution after its release, Tavia Yeung disclosed that Louis Koo has given instructions already. She revealed, “Louis told me not to take a holiday in January, but I want to go skiing. He said as if, ‘Forget about it, let’s talk in March, the most important thing is to work first!'”

Reflecting on the TV series version of “Searching for Qin” that aired in 2001, Joyce Koi described the bond among the female leads: “Twenty-five years ago, ‘Searching for Qin’ was my first drama, back then, I felt nervous and unfamiliar with everyone, but now it feels like we’ve known each other for a long time.” Tavia Yeung, understanding the depth of their friendship, added, “We get along even better now!”

Haven’t launched any new works for a long time, Joyce Koi noted that although she’s not very passionate about acting, she expressed interest in roles that provide space for her to explore and perform more.

Discussing the changes over the past 25 years, Tavia Yeung praised Tavia Yeung for her excellent maintenance, exclaiming, “She is like a super preservative!” Tavia Yeung shared her secret to ageless beauty, jokingly saying, “It’s because I am still in TVB!” Surprised by this response, Tavia Yeung, who left TVB more than 13 years ago, remarked, “That’s unreasonable! It must have been very difficult!” Tavia Yeung revealed, “Although it’s hard work, the regular schedule helps, early to bed and early to rise.”

When asked about the possibility of a third installment of “Searching for Qin,” Tavia Yeung hinted, “Six years ago, Boss Louis said, if the box office does well, they will make another one.” Excitedly, Joyce Koi even leaked a major spoiler saying, “No one dies in this movie! There could be a third installment…but I can’t say more!” The film was shot and completed in July 2019, but remained unreleased, becoming a sort of urban legend in Hong Kong cinema. Finally, after six years, audiences will have the opportunity to witness the long-awaited film.
