Recently, there have been reports that Yang Hongwei, the chief prosecutor of the Hailun City Prosecutor’s Office in Suihua, Heilongjiang Province, has been detained for soliciting prostitution. According to reports from mainland Chinese media, local police investigating a prostitution case unexpectedly discovered Yang’s involvement in soliciting prostitution, and there are also allegations that he has a stake in the implicated bathhouse.
According to a report by the WeChat official account “Law Matters,” on December 6th, multiple reliable sources confirmed that Yang Hongwei, the chief prosecutor of the Hailun City Prosecutor’s Office under the jurisdiction of Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province, was recently detained for soliciting prostitution.
Information shows that Yang Hongwei, a native of Suileng County in Heilongjiang Province, currently serves as the Party Secretary and Chief Prosecutor of the Hailun City Prosecutor’s Office.
Reports indicate that multiple insiders revealed that Yang Hongwei’s soliciting prostitution arrest was an unexpected discovery during the investigation of a separate prostitution case.
Sources claim that a bathhouse owner in a county under Suihua City had operated a venue offering illicit services and was also allegedly involved in criminal activities. After being targeted, the owner moved to Hailun to reopen his business, continuing to facilitate prostitution.
Following reports from local residents, authorities in Heilongjiang Province instructed the case to be transferred to the Black River City Public Security Bureau for investigation. During the probe, video evidence implicating Yang Hongwei in soliciting prostitution was found in the privately installed surveillance cameras at the bathhouse owner’s establishment.
It is reported that Yang Hongwei has been detained for 12 days. The news of Yang’s arrest was also confirmed by a prosecutor from the Suihua City Prosecutor’s Office, who disclosed that the matter had been internally reported, with potential charges including soliciting prostitution and possibly involvement in organizing or facilitating prostitution.
Another source mentioned that the bathhouse involved in the case had Yang, the chief prosecutor surnamed Yang, as a shareholder.
Before publication, “Law Matters” attempted to contact Wang Xiuhua, chief prosecutor of the Suihua City Prosecutor’s Office, and the Hailun City Committee’s Propaganda Department. However, Wang Xiuhua’s phone couldn’t be reached.
Regarding the authenticity of the news, Deputy Secretary of the Hailun City Committee Lu Hongyan did not provide a direct response. During a phone conversation, she mentioned that the truth of the matter would need to be confirmed by the court’s judgment, stating that her words alone wouldn’t count.
Following the news release, various parties are awaiting an official response… As of now, whether it be Heilongjiang Province, Suihua City, or Hailun City, all remain silent—neither confirming nor denying the allegations.
