Flight Attendant: Not Following These Rules When Traveling Abroad Will Lead to Denied Boarding

With the Christmas and New Year approaching, many people are planning to go on vacations abroad. However, nothing can be more frustrating than being denied boarding due to not adhering to certain important rules. An international flight cabin crew member shared insights on the mistakes made by passengers who were denied boarding.

Yana Biryukova, an international flight attendant based in Dallas, shared a crucial travel advisory on social media, emphasizing that such situations are “happening every day.” She stressed the significance of checking passport requirements before embarking on a dream holiday.

Biryukova captioned her video, “Do you know that people make this common mistake every day, leading to them being denied boarding for their dream holiday flights? Some countries have specific passport requirements and will not allow entry if violated.”

“If you are traveling abroad, check the validity of your passport to ensure it has at least six months remaining,” emphasized Biryukova in her video.

She further explained, “Even if your passport expires in five months and twenty-nine days, they won’t let you board.”

Moreover, Biryukova cautioned passengers to make sure their passports have at least four blank pages for stamps. “Don’t make this mistake,” she advised.

Regardless of the travel circumstances, whether for a wedding, birthday, or dream vacation, Biryukova highlighted that some countries will not permit entry.

Social media users joined the discussion, sharing their concerns and personal experiences in the comments section.

“I rushed to check if my passport has enough blank pages,” one user commented. Then, the same user replied, “Oh my, it doesn’t, wow. I think you really saved me. It actually only has 2 blank pages.”

Another user mentioned, “As someone who works at the counter/gate, this is one of the things to check when assisting passengers with boarding procedures.”

Another user shared, “This happened to my mom – she was denied entry because her passport was expiring in less than 6 months. Luckily, she has dual citizenship. Her second passport will expire in about 2 years.”

While some stated they were aware of passport validity rules, many were surprised by the four blank page requirement.

Sara Russell, a travel consultant at Travelmation in Florida, informed Fox News Digital that when preparing trips for clients, “many of them tell me, ‘I had no idea’ about the strict passport regulations.”

She emphasized that ensuring the passport’s validity for at least six months is a “general rule.” She also indicated that the four-page blank rule is in place to ensure enough space in the passport for stamps.

To understand the rules of different countries, Americans can search for information on the State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs website regarding the countries they plan to visit.

“Take it seriously,” Russell advised, “if you don’t comply with the requirements, you will have to turn back.”

Remember, a successful trip starts with proper preparation and adherence to the necessary travel regulations. Stay informed, plan ahead, and enjoy your vacation hassle-free!
