On Tuesday, before the final deadline set by President Trump for Iran, Trump announced that the United States and Iran had reached an agreement to cease hostilities for two weeks to engage in negotiations. Early on Wednesday (April 8), Trump stated that Iran will no longer engage in uranium enrichment and that the US and Iran will cooperate in clearing out Iran’s deeply buried nuclear dust.
On Wednesday, Trump posted on Truth Social, saying, “The United States will closely cooperate with Iran, and we believe that Iran has successfully undergone a regime change!”
“Iran will no longer engage in uranium enrichment activities. The United States will work with Iran to dig up and clear out all the deeply buried nuclear ‘dust’ (from the nuclear facility destroyed by US B-2 bombers last June),” he said.
Trump also revealed that the destroyed nuclear facilities in Iran have been under close satellite monitoring by the US Space Force, “There has been no movement since the attack occurred.”
On the night of June 21 last year, the US military carried out strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities in what was known as “Operation Midnight Hammer.” The Fordow uranium enrichment facility in Iran was the primary target of the US military.
The Fordow facility is located underground in the mountains of Iran hundreds of feet below the surface, where US Air Force B-2 “Spirit” stealth bombers carrying 30,000-pound Massive Ordnance Penetrators destroyed the facility. The US military also destroyed the Natanz and Isfahan nuclear facilities in Iran.
The “Operation Epic Fury” launched by the US on February 28 this year, in conjunction with Israel’s “Operation Roaring Lion,” aimed at targeting Iranian leadership, missile bases, and some remaining nuclear-related facilities.
On Wednesday, President Trump concluded his post by stating that the US is currently negotiating and will continue negotiations with Iran on tariff and sanction relief. Many parts of the 15-point negotiation prepared by the US have already been agreed upon with Iran.
According to earlier media reports, the content of the US 15-point peace plan includes: Iran dismantling its nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow; Iran committing to never develop nuclear weapons; Iran must transfer its stored enriched uranium to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and agree to allow IAEA oversight of all remaining nuclear infrastructure in the country; Iran must cease uranium enrichment activities within its borders, among others.
