Trump’s youngest son will make his political debut at the Republican National Convention

Former US President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, has been appointed as a delegate for the state of Florida at this year’s Republican National Convention, marking the 18-year-old’s debut on the political stage as an individual.

On Wednesday, May 8th, the Florida Republican Party selected Barron as one of the 41 delegates representing the state at the Republican National Convention this year, where the Republican Party will officially nominate his father as the presidential candidate for the 2024 US election.

Having turned 18 just this March, Barron is currently a high school senior, with his graduation ceremony scheduled for May 17th. Other members of his family, including his brothers Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, his sister Tiffany Boulos (formerly known as Tiffany Trump), and her husband Michael Boulos were also chosen as delegates. Additionally, Trump’s longtime friend and luxury real estate developer Steve Witkoff is included in the statewide delegate list. They will attend the Republican National Convention from July 15th to July 18th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Florida Republican Party Chairman Evan Power stated in an electronically issued statement to the Associated Press, “We are lucky to have a group of outstanding grassroots leaders, elected officials, and members of the Trump family working together as part of the 2024 Florida delegation at the Republican National Convention.”

The appointment by the Florida Republican Party marks Barron’s first individual foray into the political arena, as he had previously only garnered attention as the youngest son of former President Trump. Similar to his mother, former First Lady Melania Trump, Barron had kept a low profile with his mother attempting to shield him from the public eye.

Barron was only 10 years old when Trump was elected president in 2016, and throughout his father’s entire presidential term, he remained largely out of the public eye.

Former President Trump originally resided in New York but changed his residency to Florida in 2019, winning the state in both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections.
