Sichuan Tunnel Suddenly Experiences Water Leakage Accident, Netizens Claim Surveillance Officer Laughed as Workers Escaped

Recently, in Liangshan, Sichuan, an incident of water seepage occurred in the construction of the Jianshan Nan Tunnel, causing several workers to scramble to safety. A video circulating online shows what appears to be personnel in the control room laughing continuously upon witnessing the scene of workers fleeing, drawing criticism from netizens for their lack of empathy.

The leaked surveillance video shows that at 5:48 pm on November 10th, a bulldozer and two workers were working inside the tunnel when a large amount of underground water suddenly gushed out. Upon noticing the situation, workers on site hastily turned around to escape. The bulldozer driver attempted to drive away, but before he could even turn around, he was surrounded by the “flood” and the camera was subsequently submerged, leaving the fate of the workers and the bulldozer driver unknown.

Outside the camera frame, several individuals presumed to be control room personnel were seen laughing when witnessing the scenes of workers and the bulldozer driver fleeing, sparking criticism from netizens.

However, currently, the related videos have been restricted on mainland Chinese social media platforms. Many netizens mentioned that they came across the information on Twitter (X platform) abroad before searching for it on (Douyin).

According to reports from mainland Chinese media “Citizen Concern” on the 12th, on the evening of the 10th, an incident of water seepage occurred at the construction site of Jianshan Nan Tunnel of the Liangshan Yangjiang Expressway 13.

Officials from the Emergency Management Bureau of Ningnan County stated that the incident did occur, but “no casualties were reported.” Due to the Chinese Communist Party’s tendency to conceal disaster situations, the actual extent of casualties and injuries is currently unknown.

The reports have omitted the background of the “laughter”.
