Shandong Weihai Waters: Collision Between Commercial Ship and Fishing Boat Leaves 8 Missing

In the waters off Weihai, Shandong, a Shanghai-registered merchant ship collided with a Liaoning-registered fishing boat, causing the fishing boat to sink with 9 people on board. As of now, only 1 person has been rescued, while the other 8 are reported as “missing”.

According to a report by CCTV News on November 9th, at around 5 a.m. on November 9th, the Weihai Maritime Search and Rescue Center in Shandong received a report that a Shanghai-registered merchant ship had collided with a Liaoning-registered fishing boat approximately 3.5 nautical miles east of Chengshan Island, resulting in the sinking of the fishing boat. The involved fishing boat had a crew of 9 people.

As of 2 p.m. on November 9th, 1 person has been rescued while the remaining 8 individuals are still unaccounted for.
