Queen’s District Chinese man arrested for brutally attacking father

Local Police reported that on Monday night, a young Chinese man in Kew Gardens Hills, Queens first ran over his father with a car and then brutally attacked him with a crowbar, leaving the father critically injured and fighting for his life. The police later arrested the Chinese male suspect who had targeted his own father.

According to information provided by the New York City Police Department’s Public Information Office, on the night of August 5, 2024, at around 10:25 PM, the police received a 911 call reporting a violent assault at a residence near 72nd Road in Kew Gardens Hills within the jurisdiction of the 107th precinct.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police found a 56-year-old man with injuries to his head and body. Emergency responders rushed the victim to New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital for urgent medical treatment as his condition was critical. Preliminary examinations revealed that the victim had suffered multiple impacts to his head and body from both a vehicle and unidentified objects.

A 31-year-old suspect named Yu Wang, driving a Toyota SUV, fled the scene after the attack and was later apprehended by the police. Wang faces charges including criminally negligent homicide, attempted assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

According to reports from the New York Post accompanying surveillance footage from the crime scene, the perpetrator was identified as the victim’s son. The assailant initially used the Toyota SUV to run over his father and then got out of the vehicle to viciously strike the victim’s head and body with a metal crowbar.

It was alleged that the attacker was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident, with evidence of drug paraphernalia and drug packaging found at the scene. The authorities have not disclosed the specific type of drug involved in the case yet.
