Mysterious Image of Virgin Mary Appears on Colombian Mountainside, Drawing Crowds to Visit

Colombian people have discovered an image on a mountain wall that bears a striking resemblance to the Virgin Mary. This news has attracted a large number of pilgrims and curious visitors to come and see, including celebrities from the country.

According to a report by the British newspaper “Daily Star,” the image of the Virgin Mary is located in a village called Morcá near Sogamoso, Colombia, believed to have formed due to falling rock fragments.

After photos and short videos of this location’s terrain went viral on social media, it drew many pilgrims to visit.

Country music star Jimmy Ayala apparently also visited the site. He shared footage from there on his Instagram page.

Ayala stated, “Let me tell you something, we just came to this area and saw people gathering here because the Virgin Mary appeared.”

In his post, he wrote, “Today, like on the first day of every month, we went to visit the image of the Virgin Mary in Morcá. On our way down the mountain, we saw people praying nearby. Please see.”

He said, “They told us that she had just appeared here, just like right now, on that rock. They said she appeared here three months ago.”

Ayala’s post sparked discussions among netizens. Some strongly believe it is the image of the Virgin Mary, while others are skeptical, considering it a coincidence or artificially created.

This is not the first time Colombians have claimed to see the Virgin Mary in the mountains; last June, believers in the country also alleged to have captured her image in a mountainous region.

A photographer named Carlos Alzate claimed to have taken a photo of the Virgin Mary at Cerro del Mavecure. This mountain, composed of three hills, is located above the Inirida River and has been revered by people for thousands of years.

In the photo, a shining white figure appears to be standing or floating on a cliff above a rock. Local media reported that when sunlight shines on this figure, it also seems to emit light.

Alzate shared his photos on social media. Some netizens commented that it was a sign, a sort of omen. According to local mythological beliefs, such occurrences could take place.

Additionally, a few days before the passing of Pope Francis on April 21 this year, Colombian believers claimed to witness a miraculous sight of the Virgin Mary statue shedding tears during an Easter ritual.

As reported by Da Ji Yuan before, this incident occurred on Good Friday, April 18, in the Colombian town of Aguas Claras. Some believers witnessed tears streaming down the cheeks of the statue of the Virgin Mary during a Catholic ceremony that day.

Videos taken by the faithful at the scene show what appears to be tears streaming down the face of the statue.
