Male patient’s CT report from a top hospital in Anhui reveals unexpectedly no abnormalities in the uterus

Recently, a man from Suzhou, Anhui Province posted online claiming that his abdominal CT scan report showed the phrase “no abnormalities in the uterus and bilateral appendages,” causing a stir on the internet. The report was issued by the Suzhou Third Class Hospital, Li Hospital.

On November 16, Mr. Zhang from Suzhou posted on social media saying, “As a grown man, they found a uterus in me, truly worthy of Suzhou’s third-class hospital.” He also tagged the Anhui Suzhou Li Hospital, saying, “This kind of report is so irresponsible.”

According to reports by Modern Express, Mr. Zhang’s public inspection report showed that on November 16 at 8:56 am, the report was issued by the “Suzhou City Li Hospital Radiology Expert Consultation Team,” stating that no significant abnormalities were found in the uterus and bilateral appendages on his abdominal CT scan. The report was signed and verified by a doctor named Li at 9:28 am on the same day.

In the afternoon, a reporter from Modern Express contacted the Radiology Department of Suzhou City Li Hospital, where staff confirmed that the doctor named Li, who signed and verified the report, indeed works in their radiology department. A staff member from the hospital’s complaint center mentioned that an investigation team has been set up in response to the incident.

This incident quickly caught the attention of netizens.

Netizens commented, “The conclusion of ‘no abnormalities in the uterus’ is just too careless! Medical records are crucial for health assessments, such obvious misinformation needs to be corrected quickly to avoid not only becoming a laughing stock but also potentially impacting subsequent treatments.” “Isn’t this outrageous? Writing a CT report without careful examination?”

A well-known Weibo user “Lead Doctor Rose” mentioned, “This situation seems like a case of misquoting from a report template. The doctors involved in this topic overlooked during the modification of the template, failing to properly delete terms related to ‘uterus’ and similar content. Normally, before an official report is issued, there should be a review process, which means at least two people should cross-check. The fact that this report was issued indicates negligence from the doctor writing the report and the reviewer…”

According to the Suzhou City Li Hospital official website, the hospital was founded in 1913 and has evolved into the only comprehensive tertiary A hospital in Suzhou City, integrating medical services, education, research, prevention, health care, rehabilitation, and emergency care.
