【Epoch Times News, 29th October 2025】In the early morning of October 26th, a male black international student from Sanxia University climbed over a wall and sneaked into a female dormitory, sexually assaulting a female student. The female student resisted, sustaining injuries to her face, and the student involved fled the scene. After the incident, the school promptly controlled the spread of information and disbanded relevant WeChat groups. However, information regarding the incident spread online and eventually led to the arrest and expulsion of the international student.
On October 28th, netizens posted that on October 25th (possibly a typo, as the official report stated it was on the 26th), around 2 a.m., a black international student from Sanxia University climbed from the first-floor iron window to the second floor, entered a female dormitory, touched the head of a female student, and when she woke up and resisted, a struggle ensued where the female student was injured on her face before the student involved fled. The female student ran out of the dormitory for help, and the dormitory supervisor reported to the police, who conducted an investigation on-site.
Screenshots of the online group chat directly indicated that the incident took place at Nan Yuan Student Apartment, across the street from the international student apartments. Following the incident, the school immediately controlled the situation and disbanded relevant dormitory WeChat groups, forbidding any discussion online. Additionally, similar incidents have occurred more than once but were suppressed by the school.
A student residing in the affected dormitory stated, “I live in the Nan Yuan Student Apartment for females, and across the street is the international student apartment. Just past two o’clock, a black person from my dormitory (I live on the first floor with iron windows) climbed up to the second floor where I reside, entered the dorm, and touched the female student on the bed above mine. (I was just about to sleep, heard something strange, and immediately recorded the sound.) The girl fought back, sustained facial injuries, ran out of the dorm and called the supervisor, who reported to the police. The police came to my dormitory door with a flashlight to investigate; it’s not clear whether they caught the perpetrator. Earlier, there were incidents of someone throwing underwear in my dormitory, and when others checked, they thought they saw a ghost. Also, a senior sister mentioned that this kind of thing has happened in Nan Yuan before, but all incidents were covered up.”
Currently, the school has disbanded related WeChat groups, closed official microblog comments, and activated the “Featured” option, preventing other accounts from leaving comments in their feedback section. When Epoch Times reporters searched for “Sanxia University” accounts on Weibo, they were unable to find any results.
Under public pressure, Sanxia University reported on the 29th that on the early morning of October 26th, a male foreign student broke into a female dormitory in our school and committed indecent behavior towards a female student. The public security authorities have detained him, and the school, in accordance with relevant school regulations, has expelled him.
On October 29th, several topics related to this incident trended on Weibo.
The Business Manager of Tianjin Zhong Shuan Co., Ltd., questioned on their Weibo account “Jin Gu Mo Ke”, “The truth cannot be concealed. Such matters should be made public! However, the school disbanded the female group and prohibited discussions on the matter.”
Beijing Ruide Chengtai Education Technology Co., Ltd.’s exclusive lecturer on theoretical law, “Theoretical Law Song Guangming,” expressed in a post, “The incident on the 26th was only reported on the 29th. The school also closed the official microblog comment section, disbanded the WeChat groups, and deleted social media content. Without the public outcry, this matter might have been overlooked. What was the school thinking?”
Video blogger and Weibo influencer “TechGameGuy” said, “If it hadn’t escalated online, the school wouldn’t have been able to cover it up, and it’s hard to say what the outcome of handling it would be…”
Sanxia University, located in Yichang City, Hubei Province, is a comprehensive university established in 2000 by the merger of the original Wuhan University of Water Resources and Electric Power (Yichang) and the former Hubei Three Gorges College.
The university is jointly constructed by the Ministry of Water Resources of the Communist Party of China and Hubei Province.
