A private survey released on Friday (November 14th) shows that despite the sluggishness of the Chinese mobile phone market, in the first month after the launch of the iPhone 17 series, Apple Inc.’s iPhone sales in China have increased by 22% compared to the same period last year.
According to data from research firm Counterpoint, starting from the release date on September 19th, the new product has driven most of Apple’s smartphone sales in China, with the iPhone 17 series accounting for nearly 80% of consumer purchases.
In contrast, in the first month after the launch of the iPhone 16 series in September 2024, iPhone sales in China had decreased by 5%.
On the day of the iPhone 17 launch, Apple’s flagship stores in Beijing and Shanghai saw long lines early in the morning with hundreds of people queuing to make purchases. This indicates that despite increasing competition from Xiaomi and Huawei, consumer enthusiasm for the iPhone remains strong.
Counterpoint stated that amid weak consumer demand, the Chinese smartphone market remains soft, with sales in the third quarter declining by 2.7% year-on-year.
