Harvard Medical School Building Explosion: Authorities Preliminary Determine as Intentional Crime.

On Saturday morning, November 1, an explosion occurred at the Goldenson Building on the Longwood Medical Campus at Harvard University in Boston. The Boston Fire Department’s arson investigation team has preliminarily determined that the explosion was intentional. It took place in a specific area on the fourth floor of the Goldenson Building, which is located in the main square of Harvard Medical School.

A spokesperson for the Harvard University Police Department, Steven G. Catalano, stated that an officer arrived at the scene before 3 a.m. and witnessed two individuals fleeing the building. Both men were wearing hooded sweatshirts and ski masks. Authorities have requested assistance from individuals on campus to identify the two male suspects in the surveillance footage.

Following the incident, the Boston police conducted a comprehensive search of the building and found no other explosive devices and no injuries or casualties were reported.

In an email sent to the building’s employees at 6 p.m., Harvard Medical School confirmed that apart from the fourth floor, all other floors have been cleared and remain open. The email did not specify the names of the affected laboratories or offices. Employees of the building were also instructed not to enter the campus until Monday unless necessary.

The Harvard University Police Department stated that they are collaborating with federal, state, and local authorities to investigate the incident. Kristen M. Setera, a spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), mentioned that the FBI arrived at the scene on Saturday afternoon to assist with the investigation.

The Harvard University Police Department declined to comment on matters outside of the email statement. The Boston Police Department also refused to provide comments. Authorities urge anyone with information to call 617-495-1796 and provide tips to the police.
