Anhui farmer has dozens of mu of wheat stolen by thieves using a combine harvester.

In Anhui Province, a farmer in Hefei City discovered on May 24th that several acres of wheat he had labored hard to grow, valued at tens of thousands of yuan, had been stolen by a harvesting machine. This news trended on Baidu on May 26th.

The farmer, Mr. Li, who lives in Hefei City, found out on the 24th that the wheat he had planted across several acres was completely harvested by unknown individuals.

Mr. Li mentioned that he had outsourced the cultivation of this wheat field to a company in Hefei City, and his main responsibility was to grow and manage the grain in that area. With the wheat being stolen, not only did his hard work go to waste, but he would also face penalties from the contracting company, adding insult to injury for his already not-so-well-off family.

Mr. Li stated that if the thief of the wheat could come forward voluntarily and return the stolen wheat, he wouldn’t press charges or seek any compensation.

Currently, Mr. Li has reported the incident to the police. However, due to the distance of the surveillance cameras, only a blurry image of a machine similar to a harvesting machine taking away the wheat on the morning of the 22nd was captured, which is insufficient to identify the thief.

Mr. Li expressed his puzzlement, questioning how someone could still resort to stealing wheat.

After the news was released, nearly five hundred netizens voiced their opinions.

Netizen “Yang Guangrong” expressed outrage at such behavior: “It’s clearly robbery.”

“Biohazard Master 4” also commented: “Even farmers’ crops are being stolen?”

“Cheng Liyongwang” believed that this incident was “not a significant harm, but a despicable act.”

Some netizens pointed out that in China, there are surveillance cameras everywhere nowadays, making it difficult for the thief to evade detection.

“Xi Xinran CC” remarked: “There are cameras at every intersection now, how could they not find out?”
