“People are the government” San Francisco residents protest government layoffs of employees.

On May 22, mayoral candidate Li Aichen held a rally outside City Hall in protest of the government’s dismissal of employees who refused to get vaccinated, and urged the public to support her bid for mayor.

Over a dozen people gathered in front of San Francisco City Hall, holding banners to protest the city government’s decision to dismiss thousands of government employees during the pandemic. Currently, there are 35 lawsuits filed against the city government in response to these dismissals, with 3 already resolved.

Li Aichen stated that one of the reasons for holding the rally was that the current mayor is unwilling to rehire employees who were fired for refusing the vaccine. The mandatory vaccination policy during the pandemic led to the loss of jobs for thousands of government employees, putting many in financial hardship.

During the rally, a woman named Julie, who is of Chinese descent, spoke about her experience working at San Francisco General Hospital for over 8 years. Due to health reasons, her doctor confirmed she could not get vaccinated, yet she was still dismissed. She stated, “So, I feel this is unfair.”

Another former colleague of Li Aichen, who was the chair of the Human Service Agency of San Francisco’s branch, shared her story. She had worked in the agency’s Workforce Development Department for about 17 years and had been remote working in that position for two years. She was dismissed by the organization while on sick leave for refusing to get vaccinated.

She said, “My religious beliefs and health condition prevent me from getting vaccinated, and I did not disturb anyone. Suddenly, they fired me. I really do not understand.”

Li Aichen emphasized that the vaccine issue is not just about vaccines but a form of biological weapon. What’s worse is that San Francisco is facing 35 lawsuits at state and federal levels but is refusing to settle, meaning San Franciscans have to bear the lawsuit costs.

San Francisco resident Daniel Goodwyn, who was arrested for participating in the January 6, 2021, Capitol protest, shared his thoughts at the rally. He had previously been arrested by the San Francisco police for not wearing a mask on public transportation.

He expressed that losing jobs for not getting vaccinated or being arrested for not wearing a mask goes against American values. We should have the freedom granted by the First Amendment. He pledged to fully support Li Aichen in becoming the mayor of San Francisco.

Li Aichen also stressed that San Francisco faces many other issues besides the vaccine problem. Issues such as homelessness, with the government allocating $8,000 per month to each homeless person, but where is the money going exactly? Also, in terms of education, schools teaching children to be LGBTQ+ and encouraging them to undergo surgeries, “this is a Satanic ritual orchestrated by globalists through politicians, and we are paying the price for it.”

She said, “The people are the government”, and the United States stands for happiness, freedom, and justice. But in present-day San Francisco, is it a communist city or an American city? If Breed is allowed to be mayor again for another four years, we will lose this city. It’s time to stand up and vote for justice, freedom, and happiness, please vote for Li Aichen.

San Francisco resident Mr. Xue told Epoch Times that since London Breed became mayor, the security situation in San Francisco has deteriorated, and there are more and more homeless people.

Many elderly Chinese residents have been attacked, robbed, or even in Chinatown they are not spared. The streets are filled with staggering drug users, leading to many major stores closing down. He hopes that Li Aichen can be elected as mayor and restore San Francisco’s security and environment to the level it was twenty years ago.

Other attendees at the rally included Arjun G. Sodhani, candidate for California’s 19th district State Assembly (March 2024); Oscar Flores, candidate for the 11th district Supervisor Committee (November 2024); and Manuel Noris Barrera, candidate for California’s 17th district State Assembly (November 2024).
