【Epoch Times News on November 27, 2025】Recently, a former employee of Campbell Soup Company filed a lawsuit against the company, alleging that Vice President Martin Bally made racist remarks and disparaged the quality of Campbell’s products.
Campbell Soup Company, headquartered in Camden, New Jersey, is renowned for its canned soup products. The company’s popular chicken soup, often referred to as Campbell’s Soup or golden treasure soup, typically sells for between $1 to $2 per can in supermarkets.
Robert Garza, a former network security analyst at Campbell Soup Company, secretly recorded Bally’s comments as evidence for the lawsuit.
Last week, Garza from Monroe County, Michigan, filed the lawsuit in Wayne County, where Bally resides, detailing how their meeting, originally intended to discuss salary issues, veered off topic to discussions about race and product quality.
Garza accused Bally of belittling the company’s Indian colleagues, calling them “idiots” and expressing his dislike for working with them.
Garza also mentioned that Bally referred to Campbell’s food products as “highly processed foods” meant for “poor people.”
According to legal documents, Garza, who had been working at Campbell for only a few months, reported these comments to his manager and was fired about three weeks later.
Garza believes that Bally and his former manager conspired to have him terminated.
Garza accuses Campbell Soup Company, Bally, and his former manager of violating his civil rights, alleging retaliation after he complained of racial discrimination and harassment. He is seeking compensation for damages, including legal fees. Garza stated that he has been under immense pressure and mental anguish since meeting Bally last year.
Campbell Soup Company stated that Bally has been temporarily suspended while investigations into the allegations against him are ongoing.
The company stated, “If the comments in the recording are indeed made by Mr. Bally, it is unacceptable. Such remarks do not align with our values and company culture.”
The company also defended the ingredients used in its products, stating that “Campbell’s soup is made with real chicken, plain and simple.”
On Tuesday (November 25), the company issued a statement, saying, “Please remember that the so-called comments heard in the recording were made by an IT staff member who has no involvement in how our food is produced.”
Campbell Soup Company also released a list of ingredients for its products, emphasizing that their soups do not contain 3D-printed chicken, lab-grown chicken, or any form of synthetic or genetically engineered meat.
