Recently, in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, a high-rise residential building in a community had its wall covering fall off, injuring a person. Last year, a similar incident of wall covering falling off occurred on the other side of the residential building.
On November 24th, netizens posted a video claiming that the wall covering of a building in the Sunshine Landmark Community in Xiaodian District of Taiyuan, Shanxi fell off, injuring one person.
According to a report by Xinjing News, staff of the Sunshine Landmark Community property said that the injured person is a homeowner in the community and has been sent to the hospital for examination.
Property staff in the community mentioned that Building 39 was completed in 2017, had undergone repairs in 2024 due to wall covering falling off, and this year another part of the building’s wall covering fell off.
A source familiar with the matter stated that the southern side of the building in question was repaired in 2024, while the recent falling incident occurred on the western side of the building. The specific reasons for the above incidents are under investigation.
The incident has drawn attention from netizens on Weibo. A blogger under the name “Hong Lu Guan University Scholar” stated that this case involves walls of buildings falling off, and it is necessary to determine the responsibilities of other entities.
“The case occurred within a residential community and falls within the jurisdiction of property service companies. These companies have the responsibility to inspect and maintain buildings and structures, promptly removing any dangers. If they cannot address the risks promptly, they should set up safety warnings and report to relevant departments. Therefore, in this case, the property management company should bear the corresponding responsibilities.”
