Following the Fourth Plenum of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the religious community in mainland China has been collectively “singing the praises” and holding meetings to study the so-called “spirit of the Party’s Fourth Plenum” in recent days. This news has sparked ridicule among overseas internet users.
On October 30, a netizen posted on the X platform saying, “As soon as I opened WeChat, I saw a friend had sent me an article, and just by reading the title, I laughed for five minutes. When I opened the article and saw these photos, Halloween is still a day away, are we already entering a magical state ahead of time?”
Screenshots show that the Taoist community in Shenzhen recently held a study session on the “spirit of the Fourth Plenum of the 20th Party Congress.”
Netizens mocked, “It’s only on this planet, in Communist China, that you would see one religion worshiping another in a bizarre phenomenon!””The world is entering a time of great merging and adjustment, equivalent to a new round of creation and reset of all things, where whether someone is human or ghost will be redefined.”
“I thought this was AI making mischief. Following Xi’s original words, it’s just eating and having nothing to do…””Even scammers have to follow the Party, finally found an organization.””A Taoist wearing headphones, so disrespectful.””This world has quickly fallen from a political stage performance to a circus troupe.”
“They’re really ruining the big screen on the wall.””There’s a strange taste in this world.””The Taoist temple even raises the five-star flag every day.””Buddhism has been like this for a long time.””Disrespecting the master and destroying the ancestors.””Fearing rebellion is the top priority for the CCP now.””They are all foxes of a thousand years.””It has to be said, even acting can’t achieve this effect.”
It was found that there are multiple related reports on the mainland Taoist website “Dao Yin Culture.” This includes news of the “33rd National Religious Associations Joint Meeting held in Beijing on October 30.” The report states that the meeting “conveyed the study” of the spirit of the Fourth Plenum of the Communist Party of China, considering it a “major political task” for the religious community. Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the CCP and heads of religious organizations such as Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism, and Christianity in mainland China attended the meeting.
On October 29, similar meetings were also held in Hunan and Guangdong provinces, among other places.
However, such political study sessions are a common practice in the mainland religious community. The official website of “Dao Yin Culture” shows that on March 14, 2024, the CCP Taoist Association also studied the “Two Sessions spirit” of the 2024 National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
After the conclusion of the 19th National Congress of the CCP in 2017, at the “Hainan Province Buddhist Association’s Training Class on Learning the Spirit of the 19th National Congress,” the monk in charge and then Vice President of the Chinese Buddhist Association, Great Venerable Yìnshùn, proclaimed, “The 19th Congress report is the Buddhist scripture of modern times. I have copied it by hand three times, and I am still preparing to copy it another ten times.”
Since the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, there has been a strong promotion of atheism, not only undermining traditional Chinese culture, but also infiltrating traditional Chinese religions from within, with CCP agents inside religious circles directly led by the CCP Religious Affairs Bureau. Both the Buddhist Association established in 1952 and the Taoist Association established in 1957 explicitly state in their statutes that they should be under the leadership of the People’s Government, essentially under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with an atheistic stance. Temples and Taoist temples that were meant for monks’ meditation and practice have become sources of profit, no longer places for spiritual cultivation.
In the book “The Ultimate Goal of Communism,” it is mentioned that when the CCP uses financial incentives and commercialization to transform religions, and when religious organizations become money trees for the CCP and tools to suppress dissidents, this so-called religious faith loses its meaning, followers lose their home, and people are cut off from their path of return. At this point, the CCP achieves its aim of destroying individuals without openly persecuting them.
Former senior structural engineer of the Ministry of Construction, He Lizhi, once revealed to Epoch Times that he saw a video of a high-level CCP meeting in 2000, in which the then head of the State Administration for Religious Affairs, Yè Xiǎowén, admitted in a speech in August and September 1999 that the ultimate goal of the CCP is to eliminate all religious beliefs.
At that time, Yè Xiǎowén revealed three methods the CCP would use to eliminate religious beliefs: firstly, inviting religious leaders from minority ethnic groups to Beijing to become high-ranking officials, giving them a luxurious lifestyle and excellent treatment, and causing them to forget about their faith. Secondly, cracking down severely on religious leaders or sect masters who refuse to cooperate, throwing them into prison so they have no space to survive. Thirdly, vigorously promoting atheism in areas of religious belief, making the new generation stop believing in religion, causing the older generation of believers to gradually disappear, ultimately leading to the extinction of religion.
