On July 15, President Trump will attend Pennsylvania’s inaugural “Artificial Intelligence and Energy Summit” with executives from the technology and energy sectors. The summit, organized by Pennsylvania Senator Dave McCormick, will take place at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU).
Senator McCormick stated in a press release on Thursday, June 12, that global leaders in the energy and artificial intelligence sectors, international heavyweight investors, labor and union representatives, and government officials will attend the summit to support President Trump’s agenda in unleashing American energy.
He emphasized that Pennsylvania’s abundant natural gas resources, skilled workforce, ample water supply, proximity to densely populated areas, and top research institutions make it an ideal base for driving innovation in future technology in the United States.
White House AI Director David Sacks is expected to attend the summit. This week, he expressed concerns about the official AI regulatory system, warning that overly strict government regulations on the AI industry could hinder its development and potentially cede strategic AI market advantages to China.
Currently, several major companies are actively investing in Pennsylvania. Amazon plans to invest $20 billion in building a data center park, while Nippon Steel and U.S. Steel Corporation have announced a $14 billion partnership to boost U.S. steel production capacity. The investments from these American and Japanese steel companies will retain 1.1 million jobs in Pennsylvania and create at least 1.4 million job vacancies.
According to Axios, technology industry leaders expected to attend the Pennsylvania AI Energy Summit include: Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI; Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta; Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft; and Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet.
Furthermore, top executives from energy industry giants have also been invited to the event, including: Darren Woods, CEO of Exxon Mobil; Wael Sawan, CEO of Shell; and Mike Wirth, CEO of Chevron.
