A delegation of five French parliamentarians visited Taiwan on the 8th, led by Marie-Noëlle Battistel, the Chair of the France-Taiwan Friendship Group in the French National Assembly. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) expressed a warm welcome to the delegation’s visit, stating that they would meet with President Lai Ching-te and other officials during their stay.
The delegation, which includes Vice Chair Eric Martineau, Deputy Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee Laetitia Saint-Paul, and parliamentarians Marie-José Allemand and Claudia Rouaux, will be in Taiwan from the 8th to the 13th. They are scheduled to meet with President Lai Ching-te, attend a banquet hosted by Legislative Yuan Speaker Han Kuo-yu and Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu.
Additionally, the delegation will also meet with Lin Ming-hsin, Executive Yuan’s Political Deputy Minister, and Minister of Economic Affairs Kuo Chih-hui, along with visiting the Chiayi Asia Drone AI Innovation Application R&D Center to enhance substantive exchanges in various fields and deepen Taiwan-France bilateral relations.
Chairperson Battistel has been re-elected as a member of the French National Assembly for the fifth term and has been actively involved in the France-Taiwan Friendship Group for many years. Earlier this year, she was elected as the Chairperson of the group, demonstrating her longstanding friendship with Taiwan. This marks Battistel’s fourth visit to Taiwan, highlighting the strong and enduring ties between the two nations.
