In recent years, Taiwanese artist Wu Qilong and mainland Chinese actress Liu Shishi have been repeatedly rumored to have marital issues. However, during a recent recording of a variety show in Shanghai, Wu Qilong was spotted still wearing his wedding ring, a detail that dispels the rumors.
According to a report from the mainland media “Sanxiang Dushi Bao,” on June 4th, several netizens in Shanghai encountered Wu Qilong while he was filming the program “Long Xing Tian Xia.” In the footage, Wu Qilong was dressed in a black shirt with a tiger head pattern, paired with blue denim shorts, visiting shops on the street. Of particular interest was the wedding ring on his left ring finger, clearly visible and attracting a crowd wherever he went.
Earlier on May 20th, due to the lack of interaction between Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi on their social media platforms, a certain mainland blogger once again claimed that the two had “indeed divorced.” This rumor gained traction and became a top trending topic on Weibo, with over 240 million views, yet Wu Qilong remained silent as usual. Some netizens believe that Wu Qilong wearing his wedding ring during the recording of the show may be a response to the rumors of marital strife.
Since December of last year, rumors of the divorce between Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi have been widespread, sparking discussions among a large number of netizens. At the end of last year, Wu Qilong’s mother denied the divorce rumors in an interview with a Taiwan media, expressing her sadness: “Ah, reading the news of their divorce makes me really upset, they were doing so well!” At that time, Wu Qilong’s mother also revealed that she had recently flown to Shanghai to visit her grandson and praised her daughter-in-law, saying, “Shishi is gentle, considerate, and filial, all my bags were gifts from her.”
Some mainland netizens noticed that Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi’s interactions on Weibo had decreased since 2019, with Liu Shishi even removing her wedding ring. Furthermore, there have been recent reports that Wu Qilong has deregistered related companies under his name, indicating preparations for property division in the event of divorce. Last month, it was even leaked that the two had completed property division at a law firm in Beijing, awaiting public announcement.
According to the data from the Qi Cha Cha app, as of May 21, 2025, Liu Shishi is associated with 12 companies, with 6 still active, including Beijing Hairun Film Co., Ltd., where she holds multiple shareholder positions. On the other hand, Wu Qilong is related to 4 companies, with only 2 still active.
Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi met through their work and collaborated on several TV dramas including “Scarlet Heart,” “Scarlet Heart 2,” and “Love Actually.” The couple, with a 17-year age difference, publicly announced their relationship in 2013 and held their wedding in Bali in March 2015. On April 29, 2019, Wu Qilong announced the birth of their child, with Liu Shishi later reposting and commenting, “The child is super cute.”
Despite numerous past rumors of marital issues between Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi, the couple has consistently denied them. For instance, a statement released by their lawyers on February 27, 2022, through their Weibo accounts, stated that they had taken legal action against netizens spreading false rumors of their divorce, infidelity, financial troubles, and third-party interference, in order to protect their rights.
