A Chinese foreign student was arrested by Russian customs officers for allegedly smuggling over a hundred military products back to China.
According to a press release from the Russian Federal Customs Service on December 18th, law enforcement officers discovered that the Chinese citizen had shipped two parcels from Moscow back to China, containing components of Russian military combat gear.
It is reported that these items were purchased from an online Russian store.
In a segment released by Russian media,

showing the Chinese student speaking in Mandarin, saying, “These were bought by my friends in China and entrusted to me to send back through the Russian postal service.”
In the video, he mentioned that he didn’t know the contents of the items he was mailing.
The Chinese man is studying “Aerospace Engineering” at a university in Moscow and resides in a dormitory. During the search, law enforcement officers found over a hundred Russian and Soviet military items in his room, including bulletproof vests, armored plates for BR2 and BR4 bulletproof jackets, other armor plates, protective screens for bulletproof vests, bullet casings, and items resembling anti-tank grenade launchers.
The Chinese foreign student was detained by the Russian Central Postal Customs officers.
Russian authorities have charged the Chinese foreign student under Article 226.1 of the Russian Federal Criminal Code (smuggling of military equipment) and have requested that he remain at his place of residence during the investigation.
