American action movie star and former Republican Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, publicly endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, October 30th.
Schwarzenegger stated that during his tenure as governor, he learned to “love policies” and “hate politics,” but the current situation in America has made him “more disgusted with politics than ever before.” He expressed dissatisfaction with both parties, believing that neither party will solve America’s budget deficit issue. He also pointed out that some Democratic policies have led to an increase in crime rates in the United States.
Expressing frustration with Republicans who refuse to admit Trump’s defeat in 2020, Schwarzenegger found certain remarks made by Trump offensive. He mentioned Trump referring to America as a “trash can of the world,” which he found “very unpatriotic” and made him “very angry.”
“I want to ignore all of this, but I can’t,” Schwarzenegger wrote. “Because rejecting election results is extremely un-American behavior.”
Regardless of his party affiliation, Schwarzenegger emphasized that he will always consider himself an American first. He stated, “Before I became a Republican, I will always be an American. That’s why I voted this week for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”
Trump made the “trash can” remark while criticizing Biden on border policy, claiming that lax law enforcement activities allow other countries to “dump their unwanted people” into the United States.
After immigrating from Austria to the United States, Schwarzenegger built a successful bodybuilding career. Subsequently, he starred in classic films of the 1980s such as “Conan the Barbarian,” “The Terminator,” and “Predator.”
Following that, he served as Governor of California from 2003 to 2011.
