Trump Delivers Speech in Iowa Restaurant, Encountering Customers Praying for Him

On Tuesday, January 28, US President Trump visited Iowa near Des Moines to deliver a speech. Before his speech, he made a brief stop at a restaurant where a customer made a special request for him to pray for them.

The restaurant, named “Machine Shed,” is located in Urbandale. A White House aide, Margo Martin, shared a video on social media platform X capturing this moment.

The video shows a male customer in the restaurant engaging in dialogue with Trump and making the prayer request.

“Can I quickly pray for you?” the man asked.

“Of course you can! Come on, let’s begin,” Trump replied.

Trump then bowed his head as the man started to pray.

During the prayer, the man expressed gratitude for the President, asked for wisdom and discernment, and prayed for hope and peace.

During this impromptu prayer, other patrons in the restaurant also joined in, with a few uttering “Amen.”

This moment happened as Trump was heading to the Des Moines area to kick off a series of campaign events for the 2026 midterm elections. His visit to this Iowa restaurant was a side stop during his trip.

At the end of the prayer, Trump and the customer next to him applauded and praised, saying “Amen, praise God.”

The US will celebrate its 250th anniversary this July, and the White House recently issued a national prayer invitation.

In a statement released by the federal government, Trump encouraged Americans to pray for the country and its people, emphasizing the importance of prayer in sustaining and strengthening the nation.

Trump added that as the country prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary, Americans should “rededicate ourselves to a nation under God’s protection.”
