At least 7 people injured in accident at amusement park ride in Inner Mongolia

On January 24th, an accident occurred at an ice “amusement ride” in a park in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, causing at least 7 people to be injured.

A video circulated online shows a crowd gathered at the scene of the accident, with someone picking up a broken iron chain in the snow. According to the report by Huashang Daily, the accident took place at the Dahe River Military Cultural Park in Hohhot, where the “amusement ride” uses a digger machine to rotate a chain. It is suspected that the chain broke, causing visitors to be thrown out, resulting in at least 7 people being injured to varying degrees.

Eyewitnesses who were at the park that day recalled that they were in line for the ice slide when they suddenly heard a loud “thud” and saw visitors being thrown out one after another, even breaking the iron fence.

In response to the incident, park staff stated that they promptly sent the injured individuals to receive medical treatment, all of whom sustained only “minor injuries.” They have since been discharged from the hospital and compensations have been provided. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

On January 25th at noon, the related videos were deleted from the internet. According to comments left by netizens, when they visited the park yesterday, they noticed that the aforementioned attraction was closed.

It is essential to prioritize safety in all forms of recreation and entertainment to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future. This accident serves as a reminder of the potential risks involved in amusement rides, and the importance of thorough inspections and maintenance to ensure the well-being of visitors.
