On the afternoon of January 8, a mountain fire broke out near a university in the Shijie Street of Pingshan District, Shenzhen. The fire burned from the afternoon until the evening, finally being extinguished at 9:50 p.m.

In the evening of January 8, a netizen posted a video claiming that a sudden mountain fire occurred in Pingshan, Shenzhen, burning continuously from the afternoon until night. The video showed that in the darkness, the mountain top was engulfed in flames, with the fire lighting up the sky, appearing red from a distance.

According to comments from several local netizens, “Just a few kilometers away from the incident site, a villager returned last night and said it was really frightening.” “I was wondering why there was so much smoke in Pingshan yesterday? According to CCTV reports, the fire broke out near Shenzhen Technical University, located at the border between Shenzhen and Huizhou. The cause of the fire is currently unclear.

Students from Shenzhen Technical University interviewed stated that around 4 p.m. on the 8th, they saw flames in the distance on the mountain from the campus, which continued for a while, with a large amount of thick smoke on the scene.

At 10 p.m. on the 8th, the emergency management bureau of Pingshan District reported that at 3:55 p.m. on the same day, a mountain fire occurred in Shijie Street of Pingshan District, with the flames extinguished at 9:50 p.m. No casualties were reported.
