On Saturday afternoon (January 3), President Trump posted a series of photos on the social media platform “Truth Social,” appearing to show him and his team observing the process of apprehending Venezuelan President Maduro.
President Trump reportedly issued the final order at 10:46 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday to carry out the operation in Venezuela. The US military arrived at Maduro’s residence at 1:01 a.m. the following day. At 3:29 a.m. on Saturday, the military took Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, on a plane for extradition.
Earlier on Saturday, President Trump revealed during an interview with Fox that the Maduro couple had been evacuated from Venezuela by helicopter and were aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima, currently en route to New York.
