A US helicopter crashes in Arizona, fate of four on board unknown

On Friday, January 2, a private helicopter carrying four people crashed in the mountains near Phoenix, Arizona. Rescue teams trying to reach the remote crash site have not yet released any information about casualties.

A spokesperson for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona stated that the helicopter crashed around 11 a.m. on Friday in the mountains near Telegraph Canyon, south of Superior.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the aircraft involved was an “MD 369FF” helicopter, with four people on board.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the helicopter took off from Pegasus Airpark in Queen Creek, Arizona, a small civilian airport located west of Superior town.

Superior is about 70 miles east of Phoenix, the capital of Arizona.

Authorities arrived at the scene and located the private helicopter. The search and rescue team reached the remote crash site around 5 p.m., but as of the evening, no information about casualties has been released.

The rescue operation is still ongoing, and officials are expected to provide more details later.

The FAA has implemented temporary flight restrictions in the area to ensure the safety of the rescue operation.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will be responsible for investigating the cause of the aircraft crash, with NTSB officials leading the investigation and providing updates.
