Multiple-vehicle rear-end collision on Kaifeng Yellow River Bridge, bus hangs precariously above river.

On January 2nd, a multiple-vehicle rear-end collision occurred on the Yellow River Highway Bridge in Kaifeng, Henan Province. In the aftermath, a tour bus swerved to avoid the collision and ended up hanging precariously over the bridge railing.

Video footage shows several vehicles on the bridge severely damaged, with the bus’s front end wedged against the guardrail, its left front wheel suspended in the air. Bloodstains were visible near the door, suggesting that occupants inside may have been injured.

According to a report from Jiemu News, the bus was a commuter bus shuttling between Changyuan and Shangqiu. Staff onboard mentioned that the accident happened around 9 a.m. that day, attributing it to poor visibility caused by heavy fog. The driver failed to notice the rear-end collision ahead in time and swerved sharply to the opposite lane without traffic. This maneuver led the bus to collide with the bridge rail but luckily prevented it from veering off.

The report stated that at the time of the accident, there were a total of six people on board, including the driver, and claimed that “no one was injured,” but this contradicted the video evidence. Photos from Jiemu News at the scene also seemed to intentionally obscure the bloodstains near the door of the bus.

When contacted by local media Xiangxiang Morning News, the local public security bureau did not provide details on any injuries but simply stated that the road section was reopened for traffic and the accident had been dealt with.
