Hong Kong, December 30, 2025 – The final 20 performances of Jacky Cheung’s “60+ World Tour Concert” opened in 2023 came to a successful close at the Hong Kong Coliseum on December 23, 2025. During the fifth concert on December 30th, Jacky Cheung surprised the audience by singing Anita Mui’s iconic song “Manjusaka” with deep emotion, even reaching the edge of breaking the high notes, but he chose to maintain the original key, expressing his longing for his late friend.
At 64 years old, Jacky Cheung initiated the “60+ World Tour Concert” in 2023, marking the 10th round of his solo concert career. Over the past two and a half years, Jacky Cheung traveled across China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, and more. This tour has been the longest in his singing career, with the most number of performances, totaling 309 shows as of December 30th.
Despite continuing performances at the Coliseum after the New Year, Jacky Cheung made a special choice to sing “Manjusaka” on December 30th. This song, a classic by Anita Mui, is known for its wide vocal range and challenges. Jacky Cheung’s rendition, bordering on breaking the high notes, touched the audience deeply as they realized he was paying tribute to Anita Mui in his own touching way.
Undoubtedly, Jacky Cheung, now in his sixth decade, has experienced some decline in physical capability and vocal condition compared to his younger years. Throughout the 309 shows of this tour, he couldn’t entirely avoid minor issues like cancellations due to illness, forgetting lyrics, or voice cracks.
As of December 30, 2025, Jacky Cheung has performed 309 concerts in this tour without lip-syncing, vocal enhancements, singing in the original key for every song. It was the first time he performed “Manjusaka”, a song from Anita Mui’s 1985 album “Years of Flowing Like Water”, which skyrocketed Anita Mui to fame after winning the 8th Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award.
According to reports, the bond between Jacky Cheung and Anita Mui surpassed mere friendship, akin to family. Anita Mui considered Jacky Cheung’s wife, May Lo, as a little sister, inviting Jacky Cheung as a guest performer to her concerts during her lifetime. Their musical collaborations, such as the iconic song “Love is Hard,” were well-received by fans.
Jacky Cheung was a dear friend who stood by Anita Mui until the end. Even a decade after Anita Mui’s passing, when her millions in assets were squandered by family and her trophies and personal items were auctioned off, Jacky Cheung rallied industry friends to purchase these relics, preserving Anita Mui’s final dignity.
Anita Mui passed away on December 30, 2003, 22 years ago. Coincidentally, Jacky Cheung’s concert fell on Anita Mui’s memorial day this year, allowing him to express his heartfelt nostalgia for the beloved “Mui Jie” in his own unique way.
