Last week, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States issued multiple vehicle recall notices involving nearly 160,000 vehicles from three automakers: Toyota, Hyundai, and Ford. The recall information released by the agency during December 22-28 is as follows:
Toyota Motor Corporation is recalling certain 2025-2026 Camry Hybrid models and 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid models due to improperly tightened bolts inside the inverter, leading to poor contact with the inverter terminals. The recall report indicates that incorrect bolt tightening could result in circuit open circuits, causing the vehicle to enter a limp mode or lose power.
Affected Vehicles: 55,405 units
Hyundai is recalling select 2022-2024 Tucson models equipped with optional Mobis trailer wiring harnesses. The wiring harness on the recalled vehicles may be improperly installed, allowing water to enter the control module, potentially causing circuit shorts or trailer lighting malfunctions. The recall report issued on December 23 revealed three confirmed fire incidents in the United States.
Affected Vehicles: 51,587 units
Ford is recalling certain 2025-2026 Mustang Mach-E models due to potential failures in the B-lighting driver control module, resulting in turn signals, daytime running lights, low beams, and high beams not functioning. The recall report indicates a fault in the “Non-Volatile Memory” component inside the module, preventing the module from restarting and communicating with the vehicle’s controller area network. Ford will release over-the-air (OTA) updates or provide free module software updates through dealers. Owners can expect notification letters to be sent out on January 30 and subsequent notices after the solution is implemented (expected in April).
Affected Vehicles: 45,047 units
Ford is also recalling certain 2025-2026 Maverick models due to the possibility of the instrument panel cover separating when the airbag deploys. The recall report states that the instrument panel top cover component in the affected vehicles, manufactured by a supplier, has insufficient adhesive bonding strength between the passenger airbag sliding door and the cover.
Affected Vehicles: 6,897 units
