In recent years, the phenomenon of “mysterious loud noises” in various parts of mainland China has been frequent, with the official Chinese Communist Party failing to provide a convincing explanation, sparking various speculations and concerns. On December 30th, the topic of “loud noises appearing in Xinyang, Henan” once again surged in popularity, sparking discussions.
Around 9 pm on December 29th, residents in Xinyang, Henan, heard loud noises in many areas. Many netizens posted videos describing how doors and windows were shaking violently, buildings were trembling, pets were startled and fleeing, and then fire trucks were dispatched.
Some people said, “This is the sonic boom generated by fighter jet training.” “Sonic boom from airplanes.” Some netizens questioned, “If it’s a sonic boom, why send out emergency response?” “Come on, all the fire trucks were dispatched.” “How many times can they use this excuse?” “Sonic boom? The echo lasted for a minute.” “Where in Xinyang exploded? Definitely not from an airplane, the range is very wide, Tongbai, Minggang, and Youhexiang all felt it.”
Around 10 pm on December 29th, the Xinyang City Emergency Management Bureau issued a notification stating that around 21:00 on December 29th, a loud noise was heard in the jurisdiction of Xinyang, and “after checking, no relevant effective reports were received by 110 or 119.”
Regarding the local official response, netizens criticized, “So they also didn’t say why it happened.” “What’s the point of such a notification?” “Rumors stop at the truth, so what exactly is it?” “What kind of notification is this? Everyone heard it, and you actually didn’t hear it? What does this notification explain, if not the loud noise?” “A notification is supposed to state the cause, not to speak nonsense. Shouldn’t these inactive departments be disbanded?”
In recent years, similar “mysterious loud noises” have been frequently reported in various parts of the mainland.
On the morning of December 27th this year, a loud noise suddenly occurred in Chengdu, Sichuan, accompanied by a noticeable sense of vibration, heard throughout the entire city, causing concern.
On September 12th, there were unexplained loud noises in many areas of Shijiazhuang, Hebei, with residents saying that houses and glass were shaking, mistaking it for an earthquake. Local officials stated that they “have not received any relevant reports.”
On June 4th and 5th, mysterious loud noises were reported in Guangxi, Shanxi, Shandong, and other places, with residents’ toughened glass at home being shattered, but officials denied any air exercises or explosions, with the specific reasons remaining unclear.
On the evening of May 27th, an unknown loud noise was heard in Binhai County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu. Local netizens reported a strong sense of tremor.
A mainland blogger pointed out that sudden loud noises have caused panic among the public; and authorities often conclude with “no reports received.” Faced with the invisible noises, what is lacking is not an alarm system but a genuine sense of security, which lies not only in the absence of explosions but also in being able to hear the echo of truth after every loud noise incident.
