Former General Manager of Agricultural Bank of China’s Asset and Liability Management Department, Wang Qingshan, Investigated

On December 26, the official website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Supervisory Commission announced that Wang Qingshan, former General Manager of the Asset and Liability Management Department of the Agricultural Bank of China, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, and is currently undergoing disciplinary review by the disciplinary inspection and supervision team stationed at the Agricultural Bank of China and the supervision investigation by the Commission for Discipline Inspection in Binzhou City, Shandong Province.

Wang Qingshan has limited publicly available information. According to the China Fund News, Wang Qingshan has worked at the Agricultural Bank for many years, serving in positions such as Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Guizhou branch, General Manager of the Asset and Liability Management Department of the Head Office, and Director of AgBank International.

In 2014, Wang Qingshan was interviewed by the media in his capacity as President of the Guizhou branch of the Agricultural Bank; in 2019, as the General Manager of the Asset and Liability Management Department of the Agricultural Bank of China, he led a team to a certain location in Guizhou; in 2020, when visiting a company in Guiyang, Wang Qingshan identified himself as a director of AgBank International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Agricultural Bank.

It is worth noting that this year, several cadres within the Agricultural Bank system have come under investigation, including Jiang Wenjun, Deputy Inspector of the Inner Mongolia Branch; Wang Guobiao, former Deputy President of the Shenzhen Branch; Chen Yuanliang, former Deputy President of the Hebei Branch; Feng Jianlong, former Chief Expert and former President of the Zhejiang Branch; and Lin Peng, former Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Data Center.
