Gansu Province’s Wushan County petitioner Sun Jinxiu has just been released from a wrongful imprisonment of 2 years and 10 months. She expressed, “The authorities unlawfully detained me for a long time, injured me, and fabricated evidence to sentence me. Is there any justice in this?”
On December 6th of this year, Sun Jinxiu was finally released. Recently, she recounted to a reporter from Epoch Times the ordeal she went through during her wrongful imprisonment:
Before being incarcerated, Sun Jinxiu was kept under control at a local hotel. In early 2023, the surveillance on Sun Jinxiu by Wushan County temporarily ceased. At that time, an altercation broke out near the hotel between Sun Jinxiu and government “stability maintenance” personnel Ma Caihong, who used a stone found on the ground to injure her. Despite Sun Jinxiu’s attempts to report the incident to various departments in Wushan County, she was left with no recourse and was forced to petition at higher levels.
She stated, “On February 7, 2023, after I finished reporting the issue to the National Petition Office in Beijing, I was ambushed at the doorway by Zhou, a criminal police officer from Wushan County, along with others, who forcibly handcuffed me and took me to Tianshui. Later, criminal police officer Ji Weijie and others from Wushan County joined Zhou in Tianshui. Over ten police officers violently dragged me for a physical examination, resulting in severe injuries to my wrists. To this day, the scars on my wrists are still visible, and the severe pain and underlying issues persist in my thumbs.”
“Zhou and his people snatched my phone once I was in the car, and later randomly rifled through and used my phone. During the examination, Zhou aggressively yelled and made threatening gestures towards me, saying, ‘Let’s see how many years you’ll get.'”
Sun Jinxiu stated that this wrongful imprisonment was a deliberate fabrication by Ji Weijie, head of the criminal police team, influenced by Wushan County Political and Legal Affairs Committee Secretary Ling Qiang, following direct instructions from various authorities to create a false case, resulting in her imprisonment.
In the court ruling from Wushan County Court in Gansu Province, it was stated that Sun Jinxiu’s repeated actions of petitioning at higher levels during significant holidays, meetings, and at important locations, caused the Judicial Bureau of Wushan County and the government of the city of Guanzhen from the county to repeatedly pull staff for petition reception in Beijing and other places, expending a significant amount of human and material resources, “severely affecting the normal work order of relevant units.”
The prosecuting authorities claimed that Sun Jinxiu “exerted pressure on the government, made unreasonable demands,” and also “demanded money and property from the reception staff, verbally abused, physically assaulted the staff, and deliberately damaged property.” It was suggested that her actions should be held accountable for “provoking trouble” and she should be sentenced to 2 years and 10 months in prison.
Regarding the aforementioned accusations, Sun Jinxiu stated, “It’s all fabricated, twisting the truth, and concocting lies. (I) was legally petitioning for rights and was retaliated against with imprisonment. Wushan County Court did not dare to conduct the trial in the court. It was done secretly in the detention center!”
In December 2006, Sun Jinxiu’s home in Gansu was defiled with excrement on the door and surrounding walls, the entrance was blocked, and large posters with insulting words were plastered everywhere. After reporting this to the police, officers from the Guanzhen Town Police Station in Wushan County took photos but did not issue a notice of case registration. From then on, Sun Jinxiu began petitioning at higher levels all the way to Beijing.
In June 2008, while petitioning in Beijing, during which time Gao Qiwu, the Deputy Director of the Complaints Bureau of Guannan County in Jiangsu Province, posed as an employee of the Prime Minister’s Office in Beijing and raped her under false pretenses of resolving her issues. Sun Jinxiu later filed a report at the Qiaoxi Police Station in Guannan County, but the station did not register the case. She then went to the Complaints Bureau of Guannan County, where Director Wang Juncai, Party Secretary Han Baoguo, Public Security Bureau Chief Hu Zhengwei, and others tied her up and injected her with poison.
On January 23, 2009, she was confined in the psychiatric ward of the second hospital of Guannan County for over a year, where she was injected with poison nine times. Finally, she was coerced into signing an unreasonable agreement and was not provided a copy of the agreement.
In 2017, while petitioning in Beijing, she was deceived back to her local area by the county party committee under the pretext of “resolving the issues,” only to be sentenced to 2 years and 3 months for “disturbing public order.”
In 2022, she was kidnapped back to her local area after petitioning in Beijing and was subsequently sentenced to 2 years and 10 months on charges of “provoking trouble.”
