Elderly Man in Fujian Dies After Being Violently Knocked Over by Urban Management Personnel

Recently, a netizen revealed that an elderly person in Fuan City, Fujian Province, was allegedly involved in a dispute with urban management officers and later died after being knocked down by the city management staff.

A video circulating online shows an elderly person descending the steps, with a uniformed staff member approaching and violently ramming into the elderly person, causing the elderly person to fall backwards onto the ground.

On December 25th, a reporter from Xin Huanghe contacted the Fuan City Urban Management Bureau, where a staff member stated that the incident was being handled by relevant personnel and the individuals involved were temporary workers, with the police already involved.

Staff from the Fuan City Urban Management Bureau informed reporters from Jixu News that the staff member involved in the incident had been suspended from duty on the day of the incident, and the police are currently investigating the case.

On the evening of December 25th, the Fuan City Public Security Bureau issued a report stating that on December 20th at 9:23 am, a confrontation occurred between Zheng and Wu at the Yangtou Market Triangle Square in Fuan City, during which Zheng physically collided with Wu, causing him injuries. Despite medical efforts, Wu passed away on the 23rd. Currently, Zheng has been criminally detained on suspicion of intentional injury, and the case is under further investigation.

This incident has sparked widespread attention on social media platforms.

Video blogger and influential Weibo user “Li Ge” expressed, “In the video, the urban management officer accelerates and violently strikes the elderly person. This is not law enforcement but clearly an act of harm! The elderly are already vulnerable, and such violent behavior crosses the line of law enforcement… Moreover, the official response labeling them as ‘temporary workers’ only fuels public doubts, leading to questioning of responsibility avoidance. This reflects potential management loopholes in the urban management team and exacerbates public dissatisfaction with law enforcement violence and blame-shifting.”

Some netizens commented, “At that speed and force, even a young adult would struggle. ” “It’s clearly a violent collision that led to the elderly person hitting the back of their head. ” “The impact from hitting the back of the head would be severe for a young person as well.” “The abolition of urban management should be considered as a topic, as urban management has always been seen by the public as synonymous with ‘violent law enforcement’.”
