Woman Dubbed “Tiger” Wang Jun Falls to 63rd in Rank of Dismissed Central Government Officials This Year

On December 24th, it was officially reported that Wang Jun, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of the Tibet Autonomous Region of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, and is currently under investigation. As the year draws to a close, Wang Jun’s downfall marks the 63rd high-ranking official to be implicated in a corruption scandal this year.

Wang Jun’s public profile indicates that she is a Han nationality born in February 1964 in Pingliang, Gansu Province. She has served in Tibet for many years, holding positions such as Member of the Ali Regional Committee, Deputy Commissioner of the Administration Office, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Land and Resources Department of the Autonomous Region, as well as Deputy Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Autonomous Region. In January 2018, she was appointed as the Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Tibet People’s Congress, a position she holds until the recent investigation.

Just last week, Wang Jun was participating in official duties. According to the “Tibet Linzhi City Delegation House for National People’s Congress Delegates and Autonomous Region People’s Congress Delegates”, from December 12th to 15th, Wang Jun led a delegation of 14 representatives from the National People’s Congress and the Autonomous Region People’s Congress to inspect Linzhi City.

Prior to Wang Jun’s downfall, since 2025, a total of 62 high-ranking officials under central management have been investigated, surpassing last year’s figure of 58 and marking the highest number of such officials implicated in a single year in recent history.

Among the recent high-ranking officials under investigation while in office are Yin Jianye, a member of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Vice Chairman, Chen Weijun, a member of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Party Committee and Executive Vice Chairman, Wang Fengchao, Deputy Secretary of the Chengdu Municipal Committee and Mayor of Sichuan Province, and Fang Hongwei, Secretary of the Xi’an Municipal Committee in Shaanxi Province.
