On December 22, lead singer Ashin from the band “Mayday” and members of “F3,” Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, and Ken Chu, held the final concert of their four-show series in Shanghai. During a performance, Ashin accidentally stepped into the air and fell about 2 meters from the stage, causing his hand to bleed and shocking the audience. Late that night, Ashin reassured fans of his well-being.
Ashin and “F3” performed the song “Party Animal,” igniting the atmosphere of the venue. From the footage, Ashin could be seen walking back and forth on stage, engaging warmly with fans, but he momentarily lost sight of the stage beneath him. He first stepped into the air, stumbled, and then fell to the ground due to unstable balance. Screams erupted in the audience, and Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Ken Chu, and staff immediately rushed to check on Ashin’s fall.
Subsequently, Ashin returned to the stage and humorously self-depreciated, saying, “I didn’t know I had memory loss just now, wondering why ‘Mayday’ was missing a member.” Concerns arose over his injury, with some fans witnessing his hand bleeding. Ashin expressed gratitude to “F3” and to Chai Zhiping, director of “Meteor Garden,” as well as to Jerry Yan. Ashin candidly stated, “I know this is not the scene everyone was hoping for, but I will continue to work hard to present the best view for you.” He seemed to hint at ongoing efforts to reunite F4.
Next year marks the 25th anniversary of F4’s formation. Fans were anticipating a tour featuring Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Jerry Yan, Ken Chu, and Vic Chou together. However, due to a leak from Vic Chou in a live broadcast regarding new songs and tour plans, reports surfaced earlier that the original lineup might change, with Vic Chou being possibly removed, leading to F4 continuing as “F3” for future performances.
Although Vic Chou and Ashin’s company, “Ocean Butterflies Music,” were at odds over his alleged removal from F4, Ashin displayed grace during the concert, expressing thanks to Vic Chou and sharing an old video on social media. Ashin mentioned responding to the warm invitation of “F3” and standing on their shared stage. He confided, “I couldn’t bear to leave one corner of this stage empty or let the other three bear all the pressure alone, and more so to disappoint you who have waited for 20 years.”
Ashin notably stated, “Some say Ashin is the boss of ‘Ocean Butterflies Music’ and should step in himself. I just want to say, hey, I’m not the boss, I’m just extremely passionate and stubborn about music and performances.”
Furthermore, Ashin explained that in just over a month, he performed 22 concerts, giving his all during the four nights of shows in Shanghai. Of course, he expressed, “I must say, I am happy and honored.” He indicated that he would return to his role as lead singer of Mayday for their upcoming “Back to That Day” 25th-anniversary tour.
Regarding Ashin’s latest injury, “Ocean Butterflies Music” stated, “Mayday’s Ashin is currently in good condition. After the performance, he will undergo a detailed examination by medical professionals. Thank you all for your concern.” In the early hours of December 23, Ashin also posted on social media, informing that he was “all safe after hospital check-up.”
