In mainland China, violent incidents causing harm to people are occurring frequently. On December 19, near a high school in Guangzhou, a knife attack took place, resulting in two students being injured. However, the police reported it as a case of “maintaining stability,” and did not disclose information such as the identities of the suspect and the victims.
A video circulating online shows a male student running and clutching his chest, seeking help from passersby, saying, “Someone stabbed me twice.” In the video, the ground where the student was standing is covered in blood. A female voice can be heard in the video shouting in panic, “Call an ambulance.” Pictures show one victim lying on the ground while medical personnel are providing emergency treatment at the scene.
According to comments from netizens on the video platform, the injured students are from Donghua Experimental School affiliated with No. 16 Middle School, and the assailant is described as a “northerner,” with some speculating involvement of the “underworld,” while others claim it was a case of “student-on-student violence.”
On the night of December 19, the Yuexiu Branch of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau reported that at 5:37 pm, they received a call from the public reporting two injured individuals on Yuexiu South Road. The 34-year-old suspect, surnamed Zhao, has been arrested, and the two victims were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, with authorities stating they are “not in life-threatening condition.”
However, the report did not mention the suspect’s identity, motive for the crime, or whether the victims were students.
According to reports from Hong Kong’s Ming Pao, sources have confirmed that the two injured individuals are first-year students from Guangzhou No. 16 Middle School Donghua Experimental School, who were stabbed near the school after classes.
