An American house received hundreds of misdelivered packages in six months

In the past six months, a residential property in Washington D.C., United States, has received over 100 packages that were not ordered by the residents of the house. These packages were mistakenly delivered due to an error in the address by a nearby hotel.

According to a report from NBC4 on December 12th, this family in Washington D.C. has continuously received over 100 packages from Amazon over a period of more than six months, arriving both during the day and at night.

One member of the family, Brittany, stated during an interview with the television station, “We received a variety of items, from cat food to vitamin supplements, and even a chainsaw. Fortunately, the guest came to collect the items, but we did not inquire further or open the door.”

Brittany mentioned that she believes guests from the nearby Arlo Hotel accidentally selected her address when placing orders on Amazon, as her address was listed ahead of the hotel address in the selection list. The two addresses differed by only one letter.

She complained that often Amazon delivery drivers knock on the door at later hours, such as after 8 pm, causing inconvenience, especially when there are children in the house.

Amazon stated that the company is investigating the incident and seeking a solution.

(Similar incidents have occurred earlier this year in California as well.

According to the Associated Press, a woman in San Jose, California, reported in July that over the past year, her home had received hundreds of Amazon packages, each containing a car seat cover sold by a Chinese Amazon seller named “Liusandedian.”)

The investigation revealed that “Liusandedian” had labeled the woman’s address as a return address. The seller’s online review section was filled with complaints about the seat covers being unsuitable, high return costs, and difficulties receiving refunds.

The woman had filed multiple complaints with Amazon, but she stated that despite Amazon’s assurances to resolve the issue, the packages continued to arrive ceaselessly.

Amazon mentioned in a statement, “We have apologized to the customer, communicated with her directly, arranged for the retrieval of all packages, and taken measures to thoroughly resolve this issue.”

Ultimately, representatives from the company visited the woman’s residence and retrieved all the packages.
