Teacher in Shaanxi “Curses” Students, All Contract Swine Flu, Sparks Online Outrage

In a school in Tongchuan High-tech Zone, Shaanxi, a teacher’s chat records in a WeChat group cursing her students to get the flu have been exposed, sparking a firestorm on the internet.

Recently, a netizen shared a conversation from a WeChat group on social media, showing a woman in the group posting about her daily routine as a teacher and saying, “All these XX, let them all get the flu and go back quickly.”

On the evening of December 15th, netizens found the social media account of the person who made the above remarks.

On December 16th, Red Star News reported that after private messaging the account to verify the comments, there was no response. However, the account was soon set to private, and the profile picture used on the social media account matched the person in the photos posted on the account, which closely resembled the woman suspected of being the teacher making the controversial comments in the WeChat group.

According to the report, on December 16th, after verification, it was confirmed that the account owner is a teacher at a school in Tongchuan High-tech Zone, Shaanxi. The New District Education Bureau in Tongchuan confirmed that the woman involved is a teacher named Li from a school in Tongchuan High-tech Zone and said they were investigating the matter.

The chat records show the teacher cursing her students to get the flu, which sparked dissatisfaction among other group members. She later said, “I don’t care about this chaos, as long as I get paid, report it quickly. I wish someone unrelated would report it; you wouldn’t say this if you were in this profession.”

In response to other netizens questioning her statement about wanting the students to get the flu, the teacher said that those students were not her children and had nothing to do with her.

At the time, when others in the group questioned how long she would be able to keep her job, the teacher said, “I have a position.”

The netizen who shared the chat records explained that it all started when they saw a teacher cursing students to get the flu in a singles’ social group on WeChat, and even mentioned that teachers at the school scolded students. They were worried about the children involved and thought sharing it on social media might alert the corresponding parents to pay more attention to their children. They did not expect such a strong response and interest from other netizens.

The incident has stirred up a storm on the internet, and the topic has trended widely.

Many netizens questioned how someone like that woman could become a teacher and what kind of students a teacher like her could educate.

One internet user commented, “Some people today are not suitable to be teachers or doctors, yet they end up in these professions.”

Another netizen remarked, “The current education system really lacks the cultivation of human qualities. Even the most basic qualities of being a human being should not be lacking, let alone for someone who is supposed to be a role model like a teacher.”

A user expressed concern about the moral decay in some male teachers in China secretly harassing students, while unethical female teachers openly cursing students.
