Former Deputy Director of Hunan Provincial People’s Congress Ye Hong investigated for corruption

On December 3, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervision Commission of the Communist Party of China announced that Ye Hongzhuan, former member of the Party group and deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, and is currently undergoing disciplinary review and supervision investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervision Commission.

Public information shows that Ye Hongzhuan, born in June 1958 in Longshan County, Hunan Province, started working in March 1975 and holds a college degree.

Ye Hongzhuan has worked in Hunan Province for a long time and has held various positions such as member of the Standing Committee of the Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture Party Committee, Secretary of Fenghuang County Party Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture Party Committee, Secretary of Jishou City Party Committee, Deputy Secretary and Governor of the Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture Party Committee, as well as Secretary of the Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture Party Committee.

In January 2018, Ye Hongzhuan was promoted to deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress, and continued to serve as Secretary of the Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture Party Committee until March 2021. In January 2022, Ye Hongzhuan resigned from the position of deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress.

With Ye Hongzhuan’s downfall this time, a total of 57 senior executives under central management have been publicly announced for disciplinary review and investigation on the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervision Commission since the beginning of this year.

Furthermore, since the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the officialdom in Hunan has been continuously turbulent, with six high-ranking officials including Yi Pengfei, Peng Guofu, Dai Daojin, Li Weiwei, Wu Lan, and Ye Hongzhuan being officially announced to have fallen. Former Governor and Secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, Xu Dazhe, was removed from the position of National People’s Congress deputy on October 28 and stripped of his membership on the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and Vice Chairman of the Education, Science, Culture and Health Committee of the National People’s Congress.
