On September 4th, the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Beijing officially announced its closure, stating that due to the expiration of the lease and adjustments in brand strategy planning, the museum will permanently close starting from October 1, 2025.
The official statement mentioned that after the closure, most of the celebrity wax figures will be transferred to Madame Tussauds museums in locations such as Shanghai and Hong Kong for continued exhibition, while a few wax figures will be properly preserved.
The Beijing Madame Tussauds Wax Museum officially opened on May 31, 2014, on Qianmen Street, with a building area of 3000 square meters. It was the fourth Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Greater China and also the first international entertainment experience venue on Qianmen’s traditional commercial street.
The museum boasted a variety of wax figure exhibits, including entertainment celebrities like Jay Chou, Angelababy, Jason Zhang, Roy Wang, Deng Chao, Jane Zhang, and others. Additionally, there was a “Sports Superstars” themed section showcasing wax figures of sports celebrities such as Li Na, Yao Ming, David Beckham, Kobe Bryant, among others. Ticket prices ranged from 60 yuan to 139 yuan.
Interestingly, on the same day the closure announcement was made, the Beijing Madame Tussauds Wax Museum also launched a “Zhou Shen” limited-time exhibition in Beijing, which ran from September 4th to September 29th, serving as the museum’s final special exhibition before closure.
