Communist Party officials removed from office in several regions, deputy-level official in Guizhou province investigated.

In recent times, there have been frequent shake-ups in the official circles in mainland China, with officials being constantly reported falling from grace. On August 29, Tang Dezhi, a member of the Party Committee and vice chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Political Consultative Conference, was officially announced to have been taken down from his position. Earlier, the mayor of Wuzhou City in Guangxi was under investigation. Additionally, in a span of half a month, three leading officials from the Water Bureau of Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia, were also investigated.

Public records show that Tang Dezhi was born in July 1965, hailing from Mianyang, Sichuan, with Guiyang, Guizhou being his birthplace. He had previously worked in the Guizhou Provincial Planning Commission and the Office of the Provincial Government, holding positions such as Deputy Secretary-General of the Guizhou Provincial Government, member of the office’s Party Committee, member of the provincial government’s Party Committee, Director of the office, and Secretary-General of the provincial government.

In 2017, Tang Dezhi was appointed as the Secretary of the Qiannan Prefectural Party Committee. In January 2023, he was promoted to vice chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Political Consultative Conference (continuing to hold the position of Secretary of the Qiannan Prefectural Party Committee until October 2024), before being investigated during his current tenure.

On August 27, official reports stated that Li Zhenpin, the Deputy Secretary of the Wuzhou City Committee and Mayor, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, and is currently under investigation.

According to his resume, Li Zhenpin, a Zhuang ethnic, was born in November 1969 and is a university graduate and a member of the Chinese Communist Party. He had previously worked in the Research Office of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government and the Planning Commission, before being transferred to the Party Committee Office of the autonomous region in 2002, where he held positions such as Deputy Director of Comprehensive Division I, Deputy Director of Comprehensive Division II, Director of the Secretary Division, Director of the Document and Telecommunications Division, and Director of Comprehensive Division I.

In 2013, Li Zhenpin was appointed as the Deputy Mayor of Yulin City and in 2018 became a member of the Laibin City Committee and the Minister of the Propaganda Department, later also serving as the Secretary of Xincheng County. In 2021, he became a member of the Laibin City Committee and the Executive Deputy Mayor.

In May 2023, Li Zhenpin was transferred to the post of Deputy Secretary of the Wuzhou City Committee and in August 2023, he was elected as the Mayor of Wuzhou City, before the current investigation.

On August 27, the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Committee of Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia, announced that Shang Jun, the former Deputy Director and third-level researcher of the Water Bureau of Hohhot City, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law and is currently under investigation.

On August 13, the official announcement from Hohhot City revealed that Zhang Yongde, Director of the Budget Work Committee of the People’s Congress of Hohhot City and a first-level researcher, and Nie Yunxia, former Deputy Director of the Water Bureau of Hohhot City and a third-level researcher, were also under investigation.

The Water Bureau of Hohhot City is a working department of the Hohhot City Government at the department level. Zhang Yongde, Nie Yunxia, and Shang Jun had worked together in the same team for a long time.

Public information indicates that Zhang Yongde was born in April 1970 and had held positions such as Deputy General Manager and General Manager of Hohhot Chunhua Water Development Group Co., Ltd., before becoming the Director of the Water Bureau of Hohhot City in August 2022, and then transferring to the Hohhot City People’s Congress in September 2024.

Nie Yunxia, born in May 1973, had long held positions in the Water Bureau of Hohhot City, serving as Deputy Director starting from 2013.

Shang Jun, born in August 1966, became the Deputy Director of the Water Bureau of Hohhot City in 2019.
