Last Saturday, on June 21, the 2025 Gawai Dayak Harvest Festival cultural parade concluded amidst a grand and bustling atmosphere in Malaysia’s Sarawak. Along the riverside, the event showcased a splendid and captivating cultural panorama that delighted the participants.

According to local media reports, this highly anticipated annual event featured 91 teams and 12 beautifully decorated floats. Approximately 3,000 Dayak people gathered at the Tun Jugah building square to kick off the parade, walking along a 1.28-kilometer route to the main stage at Kuching Waterfront. Along the way, participants displayed the vibrant traditional costumes, ethnic music, and dances of the Dayak people, attracting a large number of spectators who paused to watch in awe.

Gawai Dayak is an important traditional festival for the Dayak people in Sarawak, East Malaysia. It is not only a celebration of the harvest and a time to pray for peace and happiness but also a moment to showcase their rich and ancient cultural heritage. The term “Dayak” is a generic term that encompasses over 200 indigenous groups in Malaysia, including the Iban, Bidayuh, Kayan, Kenyah, Kelabit, and Orang Ulu.
