36 Chinese Illegal Immigrants Arrested at Los Angeles Nightclub by US ICE

Last Friday morning, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Los Angeles teamed up to crack down on an “underground nightclub” in Southern California, arresting 36 Chinese and Taiwanese nationals who were illegally staying in the United States.

HSI Los Angeles shared a video of the arrest operation on the X platform of social media.

The post read, “This morning, HSI Los Angeles, in partnership with ERO Los Angeles and the El Camino Real Financial Crimes Task Force, conducted law enforcement operations at an underground nightclub. A total of 36 Chinese and Taiwanese individuals were arrested for residing illegally in the United States.”

In the footage, agents arrive at the scene at night, with a law enforcement officer wearing a bulletproof vest appearing on the screen. The scene then switches to daytime, showing a large group of Chinese individuals sitting on the sidewalk outside a building, being handcuffed one by one and escorted onto a white van.

The name and location of the nightclub were not disclosed. From the video clips, it appears the venue was set up inside a nondescript commercial building, with tight security measures in place.

As of the time of reporting, ICE has not responded to media inquiries or provided further details.

This incident occurred as ICE announced last Thursday that they would be ramping up enforcement actions and undergoing leadership adjustments. ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Acting Deputy Executive Associate Director Ken Genalo has decided to retire, having served 33 years with the agency.

ICE Acting Director Todd M. Lyons stated in a press release, “During his tenure in the acting capacity, Genalo devoted himself to fulfilling the mission expected by the American people, and his contributions played a crucial role in our success today. In the future, he will continue to work with ICE field office directors as a special government employee. I am deeply grateful for his dedication, which is beyond words.”
