Recently, extreme weather has been hitting multiple areas in China, with extremely strong winds causing severe damage in some regions. On April 12th, a 9-year-old boy in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, tragically fell from the 27th floor. Additionally, in the same area, the outer wall of a residential complex was blown off by the fierce winds, injuring people who were then rushed to the hospital.
At around noon on the 12th, at the intersection of Shunda Road and Hailan Lane in Linping District of Hangzhou, a boy fell from a building in the residential area facing the street.
In images from the scene, the boy can be seen lying on the ground while emergency responders and police are on-site handling the situation.
According to a report by Extreme Vision News, a witness from a nearby shop confirmed that indeed a child fell from the building.
Another witness stated that around 12:40 pm, they only heard a loud noise, followed by someone shouting, “A child has fallen!”
The child’s parents rushed to the scene and were overwhelmed with grief. Approximately an hour later, the boy’s body was taken away.
It was mentioned that the child lived on the 27th floor and was only 9 years old. Many businesses around the area where the incident occurred mentioned that there was strong wind at the time.
According to a report by Tide News, on the 12th, strong winds wreaked havoc in Hangzhou, with several readers revealing that around 2 pm, an incident occurred at Yanzhang Ying Yuehua Court in Xiaoshan District, where a section of the exterior wall was blown off by the strong wind, hitting residents in the complex.
Information from Beigan Street where the residential complex is located indicated that the incident happened after 1 pm.
Staff from Beigan Street mentioned that the injured residents had been taken to the hospital and are currently receiving treatment: “This complex is not very old, it was handed over at the beginning of 2019, and no one expected such an incident to occur.”
From April 11th to 13th, rare severe winds swept across many parts of China, with wind speeds reaching up to level 14 in the Beijing-Tianjin region, leading to school closures, train suspensions, and flight cancellations.
